Location

(Please click on map for a detailed location of our course within Terrace Bay)

Terrace Bay is located on the top-most (North) point of Lake Superior on a penninsula jotting out in to Lake Superior. Situated on the Trans-Canada Highway #17, we are about a 2 1/4-hour drive East of Thunder Bay and about a 6 hour drive West from Sault Ste. Marie.

Located on the North Shore (Ontario) drive of the Lake Superior Circle Route on Highway #17.

Two neighbouring golf courses are located about an hour's drive to both the East and West of us on Highway #17 (North Shore Golf Club - Nipigon/Red Rock [West] & Penninsula Golf Club - Marathon [East]).

What makes our Course Special

We feel we have an excellent course that is available to all the playing members of our Club and visitors on a regular, convenient basis. Here are the reasons why we feel we have a super course:

  • no tee times necessary; generally no more than a 5-10 minute wait to start play; at most times, no wait at all. [If travelling from out of town it is recommended to phone ahead to ensure the tees are not closed due to tournament or twilight play]
  • inexpensive membership and green fees
  • quick playing time; not very busy (9-hole playing time usually less than 2 hours; most times between 1 1/2 to 2 hours)
  • course is licensed for bar services on course as well; can purchase liquor/beer from the Club House for consumption on course
  • almost all of the holes are spaced apart and separated from each other by forrest. It's rare that you will ever hear 'fore!'
  • comfortable refreshing weather (summer temperature rarely exceeds 80oF; low humidity)
  • beautiful view of Lake Superior; located in-between the Aguasabon River and Lake Superior. Hear and see the crash & roar of the Lake Superior surf and the rush of the Aguasabon River during spring runoff and high water levels.
  • extended daylight hours in mid-summer (6:00am - 10:45pm). If you can handle it, you can easily play more than 72 holes of golf in a day?!? One can easily complete 18 holes after work.
  • our course is located on a sandy/gravel base which means the course is always dry for walking on (right after a major rainfall or from the moment the snow melts off the course).
  • variouse wildlife to be observered in their natural habitat (squirrel, fox, pheasant, moose, chipmunk, racoon, deer, porcupine, rabbit, black bear, & various bird wildlife).
  • abundant blueberries and raspberries available in prime season located right on the course (late July - mid-August)
  • for local golfers, the course is close enough to Town that you can bike or walk to the course; and storage lockers are available to store your clubs and equipment
