Course Layout

We offer a quaint, challenging 9-hole course layout nestled amongst the woods on the lowest terrace of the north shore of Lake Superior. Terrace Bay is appropriately named after the raised terraces formed from the receeding glacier that covered the area during the ice age.

The course has multi-grade layouts with elevated tees, elevated greens and sloped fairways in all directions. All 9 holes are cut out of the woods with virtually no cross-fairway play. All greens are small-ish in size which require an accurate iron shot to provide a two-putt for par (or a one-putt birdie).

There have been two new sets of tee blocks added for some of the golfers who have lost a few yards on their drive or who are just developing their strength and confidence. These two new sets of tees when combined with the two Men's and Ladies' tees provide opportunities for all levels of play.

The greens have been in impecable condition the past number of seasons and normally right from the start of the season. But you won't have to worry about sucking your ball off the green into the drink like Tiger did at Valderama as our greens are not lightning-fast. Some say the lay of the land slopes towards the Big Lake which causes some difficulty in reading the greens, and in the case of hole #5, almost poses an optical illusion.

The Aguasabon River, for which the course is named after, runs along the edge of hole #2 and hole #4. In the early spring, the river can overflow its bank to create a masculin carry on hole #4 of about 200 yards with your driver.

Hole # 6, an honest par-5 at nearly 600 yards, targets directly towards Lake Superior, with an inspiring view of transition between Lake and sky. The hole is only reachable in two by the true "Popeyes" of the North. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? STOCK UP ON YOUR SPINACH!

Hole #7 is a dog-leg right that teases the long-ball hitter with the opportunity to drive the putting surface for a sure birdie or better. But, with abundant forest and out-of-bound markers, you will face the risk-reward scenario. Plus, the tee blocks positioned at the rear of the tee, will present an almost-impossible shot at reaching the green with many obstacles lurking. The hole is moderate in length, and in most situations, is a fairly easy par-4, but beware of the fairway bunker lurking around the corner of the dog-leg to capture those unfortunate drives. For those who avoid the fairway bunker, a large deep bunker in front of the green awaits. Meanwhile you are engrossed by the view and sounds of the Lake surrounding this peninsula green. Off to either side is the sound of crashing surf, against the rocks on the left, and the grandious public beach and marina on the right.

Our course offers a challenge from the beginner golfer right up to the experienced low-handicapper. To date, the lowest score known was recorded at 66 for 18 holes. Perhaps you are up to the challenge of "bettering" this score. We have not seen the likes of "Tiger" here, but there have been a lot of competitive golfers who have emerged from our Club to compete at national events without boasting a lower score on their home course.
